Owners of some Nexus devices (Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 2013, and Nexus Player) can already get a taste of Android 6.0 Marshmallow thanks to Google, who made the factory images available on its servers. But what if you own a smartphone (or a tablet, for that matter), and your carrier of choice is T-Mobile? Magenta confirmed the Marshmallow update to be in the works for 17 of the devices on its line-up.

The page also reiterates something we know so well (and learned to hate) concerning the long time required for a carrier phone to get an update: “Software updates are a long process, which require a partnership between the software developer, the device manufacturer, and T-Mobile. After initial software is developed, the device manufacturer works with T-Mobile to customize the software, including changes for your device hardware, the T-Mobile wireless radios, and applications“.

Here’s the official list of devices for which the Marshmallow update is in works:

  • HTC One M8
  • HTC One M9
  • LG G3
  • LG G4
